Hi… my name is Tim Galea and I’m the owner of Norton’s Flowers & Gifts. We are a 125 year-old retail flower & gift shop with stores in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. I consider myself very lucky to belong to several great industry organizations and peer groups where we get a chance to share best business practices, joint buying opportunities, hiring and staffing issues, government regulations, maximizing profitability, and just common, everyday problems that nobody understands except a fellow florist. These national and statewide opportunities have helped me tremendously in my business; so with the Michigan Floral Association’s help, I think it would be a good idea to try something similar on a local level. Sometimes it’s just a good idea to get out of your store, meet with your industry friends and competitors, and get a fresh perspective on this business we have chosen. So, I’m inviting you to join me and other florists from southeastern Michigan for a casual “meet & greet” at my store on May 18. It would be a pleasure for me to catch up with old friends and make some new ones as well.
